Blue badge and accessible parking at Bristol Airport

What the airport actually publishes, where the accessible bays are, and what has to be arranged before you travel rather than on the day.

Read this bit first. Everything on this page about Bristol Airport comes from the airport’s own published information, checked on 02/08/2026, and is attributed so you can see where it came from. Access arrangements change, and a page is a worse source than the airport is. Before you travel, check the airport’s parking and transport accessibility page, and if any single detail here is load-bearing for your journey, confirm it directly with the airport or your airline.

The one blue badge concession the airport publishes

Blue badge holders get up to 40 minutes in the Drop Off & Pick Up Car Park for £8.50 — the same price everyone else pays for 10 minutes. You claim it by scanning the barcode on the reverse of the blue badge at the exit barrier.

It applies to family and friends dropping off a blue badge holder as well, on the same mechanism: they scan the badge on the way out. And if the badge has gone through departures with the passenger, the airport’s answer is to press the help button on the exit barrier — there is one on every exit barrier, with assistance available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Source: Bristol Airport’s Drop Off & Pick Up page and its special assistance parking and transport page, checked 02/08/2026. The £8.50 is a tariff and tariffs move — the airport put its drop-off prices up on 5 January 2026 with about a fortnight’s notice.

There is no free disabled parking at Bristol Airport

This is the part worth saying plainly, because a lot of people arrive expecting otherwise. Most council car parks give blue badge holders free or extended parking. Bristol Airport does not. There is no published free blue badge concession in Silver Zone, the Multi-Storey, Mid Stay, Short Stay or Meet & Greet. The 40-minutes-for-£8.50 drop-off rate above is the only concession published anywhere on the airport’s site.

Plan and budget for it as ordinary parking. If you have been told otherwise — by a booking site, or by somebody remembering a different airport — check it against the airport’s own pages before you rely on it. Turning up expecting a waiver you do not have is a bad start to a journey that already needs more planning than most.

Where the accessible bays are

Car parkWhere the accessible bays are
Silver ZoneIn the Drop Off Area, rows 313 to 340, next to the reception building
Short StayIn the centre of the car park, next to the bus stop
Multi-StoreyLevel 2, with lift access to Level 4 for the terminal

Those are the three car parks named in the airport’s car park FAQs answer on disabled bays, checked 02/08/2026. If you need an accessible bay in a car park that is not on that list, ask the airport before you book rather than after you arrive — we are not going to fill in the gap with an assumption.

The Multi-Storey detail is the useful one: the accessible bays are on Level 2, and the lift goes to Level 4 for the terminal. Level 2 is also where the airport’s own Meet & Greet reception sits, for both its standard and Premium tiers.

Book assistance in advance — through your airline

Special assistance is arranged through your airline, not through the airport and not through a car park. Bristol Airport asks for at least 48 hours’ notice and warns that late or same-day requests may mean delays.

Book it when you book the flight if you possibly can. The airport states that around 15,000 passengers with reduced mobility use Bristol Airport every month — that was the figure published when we checked on 02/08/2026 — so the service is well used, and 48 hours is a minimum rather than a target.

Assistance points, call points and shuttle buses

One wheelchair per bus. That certification is the airport’s own wording, and it is the detail most likely to catch out a group. If two wheelchair users are travelling together, or if a powered chair is involved, speak to the airport before you choose a car park that depends on a shuttle.

Bristol Airport also links an AccessAble access guide from its parking pages. It is a detailed, independently surveyed guide and it is a better source for the inside of the terminal than any summary we could write — find it from the airport’s accessibility page.

If you are being dropped off or collected

The car park most people still call Drop & Go is now the Drop Off & Pick Up Car Park, and it moved into the new Transport Interchange on 16 July 2025. That matters here more than anywhere: it has flat-level access to the terminal via a covered bridge, which the airport quotes as a 3–5 minute walk. Directions written before that date send you to a car park that no longer exists in that form.

For someone waiting to collect you, the Waiting Zone near the Car Rental Centre (BS48 3DW) is free for up to an hour. Two things to know before you send anyone there:

And the layby is not an option. No stopping, unloading or parking anywhere on the airport road network or on marked Red Routes; the enforcement charge is £100, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. The airport notes that the red routes on the A38 and the layby by the entrance are policed by the local authority and the police, not by the airport.

Taxis, and the one thing worth knowing about fares

Zoom Cars is the only taxi company with an official partnership with Bristol Airport, with an office on the forecourt between the Transport Interchange and the terminal and dedicated bays at the Drop Off & Pick Up car park on the top level of the Transport Interchange.

Under Bristol City Council’s hackney carriage table of maximum fares (the April 2025 table, still published when we checked on 02/08/2026), assistance dogs, wheelchairs and mobility aids are carried free. Note that the metered tariff only applies to journeys entirely within the city boundary, and the airport is outside it — the council’s own advice for journeys beyond the boundary is that you must agree the fare before you set off. Do that, and do it when you book rather than at the kerb.

What we can and cannot do

We have deliberately not published a list of accessibility features here, because we are not willing to put anything on this particular page that we have not confirmed to you first. If you need specific assistance — a ramp, help to the terminal door, an accessible bay at drop-off — please ring us on 07960 011047 and ask before you book. If we cannot do it, we will tell you that rather than take the booking. Live prices for our own services are on the booking form.

Before you travel — the checklist

  1. Book special assistance through your airline, at least 48 hours ahead.
  2. Read the airport’s parking and transport accessibility page and the AccessAble guide it links to.
  3. Budget for parking as ordinary parking — there is no free blue badge concession.
  4. If you are using Drop Off & Pick Up, have the badge with the driver for the exit barrier, or use the help button.
  5. If your car park depends on a shuttle, check the one-wheelchair certification works for your group.
  6. Agree any taxi fare in advance, and say what assistance you need when you book it.

For the wider picture on which car park does what, see our Bristol Airport parking guide. If you are travelling before dawn, the early morning flights guide covers what is and is not running at 04:00 — including the on-demand overnight bus, which matters a great deal more if walking is difficult.

Frequently asked questions

Is parking free for blue badge holders at Bristol Airport?

No. Bristol Airport publishes no free blue badge parking in Silver Zone, the Multi-Storey, Mid Stay, Short Stay or Meet & Greet. The only concession published anywhere is in the Drop Off & Pick Up Car Park: blue badge holders get up to 40 minutes for £8.50, the price everyone else pays for 10 minutes. Checked on the airport’s own pages on 02/08/2026.

How do I claim the blue badge drop-off rate at Bristol Airport?

You scan the barcode on the reverse of the blue badge at the exit barrier of the Drop Off & Pick Up Car Park. It also applies to family and friends dropping off a blue badge holder — they scan the badge on exit.

What if the blue badge has travelled with the passenger?

Press the help button on the exit barrier. Bristol Airport states there is a help button on every exit barrier with assistance available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Where are the disabled bays at Bristol Airport?

On the airport’s car park FAQs: Silver Zone has accessible bays in the Drop Off Area, rows 313 to 340, next to the reception building; Short Stay has them in the centre of the car park next to the bus stop; and the Multi-Storey has them on Level 2, with lift access to Level 4 for the terminal.

How do I book special assistance at Bristol Airport?

Through your airline, not the airport, and the airport asks for at least 48 hours’ notice. It warns that late or same-day requests may mean delays. Book it at the same time as you book the flight if you can.

Are the Bristol Airport shuttle buses wheelchair accessible?

The airport states all shuttle buses have wheelchair ramps and are certified to carry one wheelchair, and that there is a ramp request button on the outside of the bus. If two wheelchair users are travelling together, the one-wheelchair certification is worth planning around.
